# Cosplay Token Whitepaper

<figure><img src="/files/XzySrc026cFJG9s6a4AW" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Introduction

Cosplay Token Project, also referred to as COT Project, is a Japan-originated project that uses blockchain technology to contribute to the growth of cosplay culture and the communities surrounding it.

The project traces its roots to WorldCosplay, a cosplay photo-sharing platform with more than 1.2 million registered users from over 180 countries. From Japan, one of the world’s key sources of pop culture, we have watched the growing energy of the cosplay market for many years.

COT Project supports cosplay culture across both online and offline spaces. Cosplay was once seen as a subculture supported by a relatively small group of passionate fans. Today, it is closely connected to anime, games, films, music, social media, livestreaming, and the events industry, and has grown into a culture with a strong presence around the world.

Our goal is to help build a global cosplay community and create a new cosplay economy. We aim to create an environment where cosplayers, fans, and other people connected to the culture can connect, participate, and support one another more naturally.

In 2026, COT Project is moving into its next phase.

To date, COT has been developed as a community token supporting cosplay culture through event sponsorships, e-commerce, campaigns, and community operations. Going forward, COT Project will make the COT user experience clearer through its partnership with Matsuri Foundation, utility concepts within Matsuri Pay, game-based services such as Cosplay Battles, and deeper connections with real-world events.

COT aims to become a utility token connected not only to holding and trading, but also to participation, support, benefits, and event experiences.

### Connection to the “Transformation Market”

<figure><img src="/files/HVnb9QfW8ygui77uoxtL" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

At the root of cosplay lies a strong desire: to become a different version of oneself, to become a beloved character, and to connect with people who share the same passion.

COT Project calls this field the “Transformation Market.”

The Transformation Market is a broad market centered on cosplay and extending into anime, games, idols, virtual avatars, fan communities, and other areas where self-expression and participatory experiences overlap. Cosplay is one of the most symbolic expressions within this market.

Love for characters, costume creation, photography, event participation, and interaction with fans come together in cosplay. It is a form of individual expression, and at the same time, a culture that creates community.

Within this Transformation Market, COT will develop as a token that connects cosplay-centered services, events, games, and communities.

### Market Size

The current cosplay market is estimated to be worth between USD 25 billion and USD 50 billion, with an annual growth rate of approximately 15%. Considering that related markets such as films, anime, manga, and games are valued at around USD 180 billion in total, there is significant room for further growth in the cosplay market.

When spending on cosplay-related goods, event participation, photography, costume production, travel, accommodation, social media activity, and fan communities is included, the actual economic sphere becomes even broader.

The cosplay market is closely connected to anime, manga, games, films, music, events, tourism, and IP businesses. COT Project aims to play a role in connecting online communities with real-world events within this growing field.

As this market expands year by year, participation, support, benefits, and community experiences can be connected to COT, contributing to the further development of cosplay culture and the creation of economic value.

### Vision

### Creating a Place Where Cosplayers Can Shine

COT Project provides spaces for self-expression and strengthens community bonds for everyone who loves cosplay.

Cosplayers express their favorite characters, works, and worlds. Their activities include costume creation, makeup, photography, posing, performance, interaction, and communication, all of which involve a high degree of creativity.

At the same time, continuing these activities requires places, opportunities, funds, recognition, and support. Through events, games, apps, communities, and partnerships, COT Project will create an environment where cosplayers can shine more fully.

### Cosplay as the Main Character, Technology as the Supporting Role

New technologies related to blockchain and Web3 expand the possibilities of the project. However, the center of COT Project is not technology itself, but cosplay culture.

For COT Project, blockchain, tokens, apps, games, cards, payments, and community features are tools to support cosplay culture.

What matters to users is not understanding the complexity of the underlying mechanisms. What matters is being able to participate enjoyably, support the people they like, and feel connected to events and communities.

COT Project operates with cosplay culture at the center, without being fixated on technology, while also making proper use of it.

## Token

<figure><img src="/files/V4NBGX2dB7AFxGRrixEn" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Cosplay Token Project creates spaces and communities that support everyone who wants to transform, and COT functions as the community token within that ecosystem.

COT is a utility token designed to connect users, events, games, and partner services around cosplay culture.

### A Token with Real-World Activity

<figure><img src="/files/mObAzgLCRGiG8S3KrjUf" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Since its issuance in 2018, COT has operated as a token connected to cosplay communities and real services.

It has been used as a payment method in real-world events and e-commerce, bringing new value to cosplay communities.

In March 2022, COT was listed on Zaif, one of the first exchanges approved by Japan’s Financial Services Agency, making it a cosplay-related crypto asset traded on both Japanese and overseas exchanges.

COT has a track record of being connected over many years to cosplay culture, events, communities, exchanges, and service development.

From 2026 onward, COT Project will build on this track record and expand the COT user experience through its partnership with Matsuri Foundation, utility concepts within Matsuri Pay, Cosplay Battles, and connections with real-world events.

### COT 2026: Entering the Real-Use Phase

In 2026, COT Project’s key theme is to make COT’s real-world use clearer.

To develop COT as a token for participating in cosplay culture, users need accessible touchpoints such as apps, games, events, campaigns, benefits, and community pathways.

Through cosplayer support, fan-participation campaigns, game-based utility, event benefits, and utility concepts within Matsuri Pay, COT Project will connect COT to reasons to use it, reasons to participate, and reasons to support others.

### Developments from Late 2025 to 2026

From late 2025 into 2026, COT Project further expanded its real-world touchpoints across Asia.

At Fancy Frontier 45 in Taiwan, COT exhibited a sponsored booth featuring ambassador Ruunachu. Over the three-day event, the booth welcomed many visitors, and approximately 50 photographers gathered for the photo session.

In Indonesia, COT Project exhibited at Comic Frontier. In Malaysia, it exhibited at Comic Fiesta 2025, deepening its connections with cosplayers and creators across Southeast Asia.

At Comic Fiesta 2025 Kuala Lumpur in particular, COT exhibited a booth at a large-scale event that attracted approximately 80,000 visitors over two days. Ambassador Ruuna held limited merchandise sales and cheki photo sessions, and approximately 500 visitors came to the COT booth.

On April 25, 2026, COT Project participated as an official gold sponsor of MATSURI in Manila 2026, held at Quirino Grandstand in Rizal Park, Manila, Philippines. The event featured concerts, fireworks, cosplay, cultural programs, ennichi-style festival games, yukata experiences, and a drift car show, becoming a venue that embodied the real-world excitement and community formation that COT aims to support.

COT Project continues to connect with cosplay culture in real-world venues around the world, not only as an online token project.

### Cosplay Battles and $COTX

In 2025, COT Project announced a strategic partnership with GamingGateway.

As part of this collaboration, the new blockchain game Cosplay Battle was announced, and the new token $COTX will be introduced within the game ecosystem.

The swap from $COT to $COTX is irreversible. Once $COT is exchanged for $COTX, it cannot be converted back into $COT. $COT and $COTX are separate crypto assets, and the $COTX project is operated by GamingGateway.

Cosplay Battle is an important initiative that expands the COT ecosystem into the gaming field. It connects events, communities, games, and cosplayer support, and develops COT Project’s vision of “creating a place where cosplayers can shine” in a new form.

## Partnership with Matsuri Foundation

### Participation in Matsuri Foundation

In November 2024, COT Project entered into a strategic partnership with Matsuri Foundation.

Matsuri Foundation is a project that combines events, culture, communities, payments, and token utility to spread a new form of Matsuri around the world.

It expands the sense of unity, excitement, and community found in Japanese matsuri festivals into fields such as anime, cosplay, music, pop culture, and regional events.

COT Project joined as the first strategic partner of Matsuri Foundation.

Anime and cosplay are important cultural fields for Matsuri to connect with at an early stage. COT supports the early proof of the Matsuri economy by contributing its knowledge of community operations, event collaboration, Web3, global expansion, and the Japanese market within these fields.

Through this partnership, COT will collaborate with real-world events and Matsuri Pay developed by Matsuri Foundation, and will design new utility for cosplay culture.

### Message from Matsuri Foundation

Festivals and events transcend borders, nationalities, and values. They serve as a lubricant that connects people, and are indispensable for a peaceful world. Many people came to realize this during the pandemic.

At the same time, many organizers continue to maintain festivals and events at their own expense, even at a loss, due to challenges such as securing sponsors and delayed payment cycles. This is especially apparent among small and mid-sized event organizations.

Matsuri Foundation uses fintech technology, concepts, event operations, and community formation to support sustainable event development.

This includes Japanese cosplay and anime events.

We resonated with COT Project’s mission to support many cosplayers and anime event organizers, and entered into this partnership.

Cosplay Token and Matsuri will work side by side to create excitement through cosplay, anime, and events.

### Role Division Between COT and the MATSURI Token

Within the Matsuri economy, COT and the MATSURI token play different roles.

The MATSURI token is the utility token for the overall Matsuri economy built by Matsuri Foundation. It is expected to connect with the broader Matsuri system, including events, Matsuri Pay, referral programs, lock-up programs, sponsor initiatives, and community incentives.

COT, on the other hand, is the first partner token in the anime and cosplay field within the Matsuri economy.

COT plays a role deeply connected to cosplay culture, including cosplay events, games, community initiatives, and benefit programs within Matsuri Pay.

Through this role division, MATSURI supports the expansion of the overall Matsuri economy, while COT supports real-world use in the anime and cosplay field within that economy.

COT Project will maintain the uniqueness of COT while connecting it to the broader Matsuri economy.

### Collaboration with Matsuri Pay

Matsuri Pay is the central app of the Matsuri economy developed by Matsuri Foundation.

Matsuri Pay is envisioned as an app that brings together event payments, wallets, tickets, card issuance, crypto connectivity, fiat deposits and withdrawals, referral programs, and token utility.

Before an event, it supports ticket purchases and campaign participation. On the day of the event, it supports on-site payments and card use. After the event, it provides benefits, referrals, future event information, and token utility. Matsuri Pay brings this flow into one app and creates a mechanism for continuing the relationship with event visitors.

COT Project will design COT utility within Matsuri Pay.

As the first partner token in the anime and cosplay field, COT is expected to connect with event benefits, limited campaigns, photo contests, cosplayer support programs, in-app status features, and sponsor-linked initiatives.

Specific Matsuri Pay features, supported regions, eligible users, and implementation timing will be determined based on development progress, partner structures, and regulations in each country.

## COT Utility Concept

From 2026 onward, COT Project will focus on making the COT user experience more concrete.

COT has already connected with cosplay culture through exchange listings, event sponsorships, community operations, and overseas event exhibitions. Going forward, these touchpoints will expand into games, event benefits, Matsuri Pay, and cosplayer support.

### Cosplay Battles

As one of the utility initiatives surrounding COT Project, the browser-based game Cosplay Battles is being developed.

Cosplay Battles is a game-based service that connects cosplayers and fans. Players can use the in-game point $COTX to spin the gacha and receive additional points, cards, and other rewards. A free daily gacha is also available once per day.

Within the game, users can access Gacha, Cosplayers, Leaderboard, and the Telegram community, allowing them to support cosplayers through gameplay.

Cards have several effects. Multiplier increases the number of votes. Lucky streak increases the chance of becoming the lucky player. Refund provides a partial return if the player is not selected in the draw. Thief affects the opposing side’s points. Magnifying glass allows users to check detailed information. Careless Gambler increases rewards while also increasing fees.

Cosplay Battles expands the COT ecosystem into gaming through experiences such as supporting cosplayers, participating in games, checking rankings, and receiving community information.

### COT Utility within Matsuri Pay

Through its partnership with Matsuri Foundation, COT Project will design COT utility within Matsuri Pay.

Within Matsuri Pay, COT is expected to connect with event benefits and community initiatives as the first partner token in the anime and cosplay field.

Potential use cases for COT include priority information for holders, limited campaigns, photo contests, cosplayer support programs, in-app status features, and sponsor-linked initiatives.

The important point is that COT should not be understood only as a payment method. COT serves as a pathway into cosplay culture, a mechanism for supporting cosplayers, and a touchpoint that keeps users connected to the community after events.

### Participation Experience Design

COT utility will be connected not only to token holdings, but also to actual participation.

Attending events, participating in Cosplay Battles, submitting to photo contests, supporting cosplayers, and joining Matsuri Pay campaigns are examples of actions that can create pathways for users to engage with the COT ecosystem.

In the future, COT Project will also consider status features that visualize participation history and community activity, holder programs, and limited benefits. COT aims to function as a participation pass for cosplay culture.

### Cosplayer Support

At the center of COT Project is the vision of creating places where cosplayers can shine.

To continue their activities, cosplayers need recognition, support, photography opportunities, appearance opportunities, and contact with fans. COT Project will increase opportunities for cosplayers to gain attention through Cosplay Battles listings, fan voting, photo contests, ranking programs, event appearances, sponsor awards, and related initiatives.

These initiatives are not intended to provide direct monetary distribution or investment returns.

COT Project focuses on helping cosplayers connect with more fans, expand their opportunities, and support the sustainable growth of cosplay culture as a whole.

### Photo Contests

Cosplay photography is a central form of expression in cosplay culture.

Costumes, posing, photography, locations, and character understanding all come together in a single photo filled with love for the work.

COT Project will visualize cosplayers’ creativity through themed photo contests, event-linked photo contests, collaboration with Cosplay Battles, COT holder voting, sponsor awards, and related initiatives.

Photo contests are places where cosplayers are discovered and fans can show their support. COT is designed as a token that supports this participation experience.

### Sponsor-Linked Initiatives

Cosplay and anime events are attractive marketing venues for sponsors.

Traditional sponsor initiatives have often centered on logo placement, booth exhibitions, sampling, and social media announcements. COT Project aims to make sponsor initiatives more participatory by combining Matsuri Pay, Cosplay Battles, events, and communities.

Examples include coupons for COT holders, campaigns within Matsuri Pay, on-site booth visit programs, sponsor initiatives within Cosplay Battles, photo contest sponsorships, and post-event in-app announcements.

Sponsors can build touchpoints with users not only on the day of the event, but also before and after it. COT Project positions sponsors as partners who help expand the energy of cosplay culture.

## Market Strategy

### Philippines First

COT Project positions the Philippines as one of its important early markets in its partnership with Matsuri Foundation.

The Philippines has a track record through Matsuri in Manila. It is a market with a young population and strong compatibility with social media, music, anime, cosplay, and event culture.

In the Philippine market, COT will explore collaboration with events, Cosplay Battles, Matsuri Pay, and community initiatives as a token that supports early utility in the anime and cosplay field.

By conducting proof-of-concept activities in the Philippines, COT Project can identify what types of benefits event participants respond to, how game-based utility spreads, and how sponsor initiatives can connect with the COT community.

Based on its experience in the Philippines, COT Project will consider expansion into Japan and other regions.

### Japan and Global Expansion

COT Project originated in Japan. Its roots lie in a cosplay photo-sharing site that began in the 2000s.

Japan is a source of anime, manga, games, and cosplay, and is the most important cultural foundation for COT. At the same time, expansion in Japan requires careful preparation in areas such as regulation, exchange listing review, payments, financial licensing, and community formation.

For this reason, COT Project will continue to build event experience in the Philippines, Taiwan, Malaysia, Indonesia, and other regions while considering possible expansion in Japan.

In the global market, COT Project will collaborate with local events, cosplayers, creators, sponsors, and communities, and will develop activities suited to each region’s culture.

## COT Utility Roadmap

### Phase 1: Partnership Update

COT Project will redefine its partnership with Matsuri Foundation and position COT as the first partner token in the anime and cosplay field.

COT Project will clarify the role division between COT and the MATSURI token, while maintaining COT’s uniqueness and connecting it to the Matsuri economy.

### Phase 2: Existing Utility Enhancement

COT Project will strengthen game-based utility through Cosplay Battles and $COTX.

It will organize cosplayer support, fan participation, rankings, cards, gacha, and community initiatives, and expand the COT ecosystem into the gaming field.

### Phase 3: Matsuri Pay Utility Implementation

COT Project will design and consider phased implementation of COT holder benefits, event-linked features, campaigns, cosplayer support programs, in-app status features, and related functions within Matsuri Pay.

At this stage, priority will be given to features that are easy for users to understand. Specific supported regions, eligible users, and implementation timing will be determined based on development progress, partner structures, and regulations in each country.

### Phase 4: Event Proof

COT Project will test COT benefits, visitor campaigns, cosplayer programs, Cosplay Battles introductions, and sponsor initiatives at events such as Matsuri in Manila.

It will confirm how users respond to these initiatives in real event environments and continue improving them.

### Phase 5: Regional Expansion

Based on proof-of-concept activities in the Philippines, COT Project will consider expansion into anime and cosplay events in Japan and other regions.

COT Project will proceed in stages according to each region’s culture, regulations, event environment, and partner structure.

The first is deepening its partnership with Matsuri Foundation. Through COT utility design within Matsuri Pay, event collaboration centered on Matsuri in Manila, and initial proof-of-concept activities in the Philippine market, COT will be connected to real-world event experiences.

The second is expanding game-based utility centered on Cosplay Battles. Through mechanisms such as $COTX, gacha, cards, rankings, and cosplayer support, COT Project will create pathways for users to participate in cosplay culture online. It will also connect these mechanisms with photo contests and cosplayer support programs, increasing the number of places where cosplayers can continue to gain attention.

The third is expansion into the global market. Based on event experience in the Philippines, Taiwan, Malaysia, Indonesia, and other regions, COT Project will continue to collaborate with cosplay and anime events, especially across Asia.

These plans will be adjusted flexibly according to project progress, market conditions, regulations in each country, and partner structures. COT Project will continue building an ecosystem where cosplay culture can grow and participants can engage with it enjoyably.

## Compliance and Phased Implementation

COT Project places importance on the laws, tax rules, financial regulations, KYC, AML, and partner structures of each country when expanding COT utility.

Payments, card issuance, deposits and withdrawals, referral programs, token utility, event benefits, campaigns, and other functions within Matsuri Pay will be provided in accordance with local regulations and partner structures.

COT Project does not guarantee that the same functions will be available to all regions or all users.

COT-related benefits, Cosplay Battles, $COTX, Matsuri Pay collaboration, event benefits, sponsor initiatives, and other features or campaigns may be changed or discontinued depending on development progress, operating conditions, event conditions, partner review, market conditions, and regulations.

COT Project is not designed for revenue distribution, dividends, or investment returns. It focuses on utility design centered on participation in cosplay culture, support, event experiences, and community participation.

COT, $COTX, Cosplay Battles, Matsuri Pay, collaboration with Matsuri Foundation, event benefits, sponsor initiatives, and other functions or initiatives may be changed or discontinued due to development progress, operating conditions, partner structures, regulations, market conditions, tax rules, KYC, AML, and regulations in each country.

The purchase, holding, use, and trading of COT involve various risks. There is a risk that Cure may be unable to continue its business, develop technology, or provide the planned services or utility.

Anyone considering purchasing or using COT should consult technical, financial, legal, tax, and other professional advisors.

Purchasers and users of COT acknowledge that they have carefully reviewed this whitepaper and related documents and fully understand the risks, costs, and benefits associated with purchasing, holding, using, and trading COT.

Each purchaser and user is strongly encouraged to verify the laws and tax rules related to the purchase, use, ownership, trading, and use of related services involving COT according to their nationality, residence, and location.

Authorities around the world are closely monitoring companies and businesses related to digital assets. Accordingly, regulatory actions, investigations, litigation, and similar matters may affect Cure’s business and may limit or prevent future business development.

Anyone seeking to acquire COT should recognize that Cure’s business model, whitepaper, terms of use, COT-related services, Matsuri Pay collaboration, Cosplay Battles, and other initiatives may change.

In such cases, Cure and its related companies shall not be liable to acquirers or prospective acquirers of COT for any direct or indirect loss or damage arising from such changes.

The issuance or distribution of this whitepaper does not imply that applicable laws, regulatory requirements, or rules have been complied with.

Individuals and entities should fully understand and consider the financial and business risks related to digital platforms, digital assets, blockchain technology, smart contract functionality and risks, mechanisms related to the use of crypto assets, use of DApps platforms, and acquisition and use of COT.

Anyone who does not accept or understand the risks related to the platform and token should not consider acquiring COT.

Use of DApps services, Matsuri Pay, Cosplay Battles, and other related services, as well as acquisition and use of COT, may require AML / KYC identification processes.

COT is based on the Ethereum protocol. Therefore, any malfunction, unintended function, or unexpected behavior of the Ethereum protocol may cause the DApps network, COT-related services, or COT itself to malfunction or behave in an unexpected manner.

If any inconsistency arises between different language versions, the English version shall prevail. Please also read the latest English version.

The latest version of this whitepaper shall always supersede previous versions.
